About

GnarWare gave Tim an old kiln and he turned it into Raku Magic!

In this workshop participants will help Tim with the process of Raku glaze firing their pieces. Raku is a process of heating pots, pulling them out at high heat and using burning/combustion techniques to get metallic and spontaneous surface. It is all about surprise!

Participants should have their pieces made, bisque fired, and glazed 24 hours before in order to participate. This class comes with 5 lbs of Raku clay, and 3-5 house glazes. GnarWare can bisque fire pieces before. Participants are welcome to bring bisque pots made outside of the studio. There is limited room in the kiln so we ask that pieces do not exceed kiln limits. Those dimensions will be posted in the studio for reference. All pieces must be under 12", preferable under 6" diameter.

We do not offer making studio space for non-studio members. You can purchase an additional $35 day pass or membership to make your items at Gnarware. If you are a non-member participating you may glaze you bisque pieces with our three Raku glaze options. ALL PIECE NEED TO BE ON THE BISQUE SHELF ONE WEEK BEFORE AT THE LATEST! ALL PIECES MUST BE GLAZED AT THE LATEST THE DAY BEFORE! NO WET POTS! THEY WILL BLOW UP!

*SAFTEY*
This event uses open flame and hot materials. All participants must wear closed toed shoes and pants, and long hair must be pulled back. Please where natural, non-combustable fibers. We will provide safety gloves.
